OK- sorry if I sound like an idiot, I'm very new to burning dvds but very familiar with computers...I recently bought dvd x copy and tried making a backup of one of my movies. I try to watch it but it SKIPS....doesn't show every frame. Can I slow down the copying speed so that this doesn't happen? How do I make a DECENT copy of my DVD? thanks
Hi wrsc1234, Nah, you aren't an idiot. The fact that you even got something on a disc is proof of that, and you came to the right place too! This sounds like a media problem, What type and brand of media are you using and what are you playing it in? I find that my Playstation2 doesn't like +R media and will skip and freeze but will play fine in my stand-alone player. Are you talking about 321 studio DVD Xcopy express? I haven't seen any provisions in that program to control the burn speed. Other burning programs such as Nero 6 do. Make sure you get a couple of high quality DVD -/+R/W discs to use as practice discs and when you buy your -/+ R discs, think Quality over price; you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to DVD media. Check your source disc for any damage and make sure it is clean. Try a different movie to see if the problem is still there. Using DVD Xcopy express is an easy way to make back-ups but I and many others like to use DVD Shrink (FREE!) to decrypt and compress (rip) the movie to the hard drive and then use a burning program like Nero Burning ROM to burn the blank disc. http://dvdshrink.info for downloads and guides http://www.nero.com/us/neroue-prog.php for a 30 day demoversion Spend a bunch of time here at this forum looking around, lots of guides here, plenty of people to help.
