hi when ever i try to remove the noise from a 78 using goldwaves noise reduction the finished song sound a little muffled..i can not hear certain intraments and the vocal loses it clairity...any idea why this would happen?does it mean its to much for the noise reduction can handle?thanks... benbernie
It may mean you applied too much NR, or the algorithm used by Goldwave is not suited to your material.
whats algorithm?yea i think your right...that noise reduction cant do every song well thanks benbernie
The algorithm is the procedure (really a kind of mathematical formula) used by Goldwave to implement the NR. Have you tried Audacity? It's another free editor also has some built in NR. Or if you want to spend some $$$ this may be helpful. http://www.bias-inc.com/products/soundSoap2/
hi dave.. thanks i looked up soundsoap and its 90.00 soundsoap pro is 499.00..so expensive..do u use goldwave?i have audacity too i perfer goldwave..but not by much. lenny
I wouldn't consider the $499 version, but whether you want to spend the $90 and whether it's a good investment depends on how much you have to do and how important the results are to you. I have Audacity installed - it's been while since I ran Goldwave. I also have Sony Sound Forge 8 and Sony's NR suite. Why don't you post 10 seconds or so of your captured WAV, and 10 seconds of your NR processed file. Perhaps myself or others could recommend something more specific?
You don't have to do it here. Better to use an external file host site, like mediafire.com - anybody can post there, any kind of file. Upload it, get the link, and put the link in here.
Cakewalk Pyro does have some NR but I've no idea what it's like. See this discussion for other options: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1173617
hi now an update...goldwaves noise reduction is very basic crap....i tried to do a few songs with it and it couldent do anything then i tried audacity...same result then i tried nero and it seemed to be better...why is goldwaves noise reduction so limited? benbernie
Well the product is free - not to say free means bad... often freeware is better than anything else. But this kind of programming and the audio theory required is somewhat specialist knowledge. So not surprised it's only basic. As I said earlier, if you want good quality, and the outcome is important to you, you may need to spend some $$$. Bias Soundsoap has a free trial. Did you try the cakewalk product ?
hay dave goldwave is not free..free to try then u have to buy it..audacity IS free..i didnt try anything yet..ill give bias soundsoup a shot thanks.. lenny
hi dave cakewalk didnt seem to have a free tril version..i can buy it 4 75.00 here in jersey. benbernie
Which product are you talking about? Cakewalk Pyro is only $40 at the website. http://www.store.cakewalk.com/b2cus/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=10-CWAC1.00-10E There is a free (functionality limited) trial of Bias Soundsoap.
