Using nero to trim avi and recode it?

    How can i edit/trim a video such as an AVI, and then use nero to recode it back into the edited AVI???

    or is there any other software i can use to trim/edit video of various formats and then put them back into that format? NERO only lets me put it back into an MPEG-4. i need it back into an AVI so i can use PSP video 9.... thanks
