I have an avi movie which I can play on my laptop. I have tried to encode it to mpg twice and although it says it is now a mpg movie, but I have no sound at all.
I searched here and couldn't find the answer.
    Any Help??

    did you use TMPGEnc??
problem is that it can't handle AC3 sound.
you have to separate movie file and audio file. then translate AC3 to .wav or .mp3 (besweet)
    and then try again

Ok where in the guides will I find how to strip out the sound and convert it?
I appreciate the help-I'm a dummy on this subject.

Actually the audio is More Likely VBR MP3 which Tmpgenc doesn"t decode either and VBR MP3 is a Little More common in Files than AC3 is...But either way you can decompress the audio to Wav useing a Simple Utility called "Decompress.exe" it will take your AVI file with either AC3 or VBR Mp3 and Turn it into an AVI file with Wav/PCM audio that tmpgenc will happilly eccept. It is a Lot easier to use than Virtual dub for this Particular Job because there are no settings or anything what so ever to use..If you can not find this little app on the Net PM me with your e-mail and I"ll send it to you...Cheers
