Where to start? Without the long story behind why I am looking to use an unlocked phone, I am hoping to have some things answered. Lets just say that this ATT customer isn't feeling the love from Cingular.
I broke my V505. Yeah first broken cell in 14 years. Cingulars options aren't that great.
The other option is to purchase a 3rd party phone.
What are some problems using a third party phone? I have been told I will lose some features. Like text messaging, Data transfers (M-Mode)and voice mail.
I know I need a gsm phone 850 and 1900 freq. Is there anything else I may need in the phone?
Has anyone else used third party phones on ATT(Cingular)

I'm looking at the L6, L7, Rokr, Razr
Will Cingular update the IMEI nuber on thier system since THEY can't get me a new phone?

If you are going to get a GSM phone, there is no need for cingular to update your IMEI on their system. They will have the SIM card to keep track of the phones.

What you need to keep in mind is that you need a GSM phone, an unlocked phone and a simcard. You can even purchase one of those cheap tmobile phones and get them unlocked and use them onyour account.

Do you have a sim card already? If I am not wrong, to have cingular service you will need a simcard. And ifyou are signing up with them for the first time you can often get good deals on brand new phones from them as a new customer.
