Spent the last two days reading forums (this is by far the most useful) and downloading software..still no further forward.

All I want to do is connect my V220 to my PC (via USB)!!!!

    Currently...
    Using Win98se and MPT v3.00

    Problem...
I cannot get past installing a valid driver for the V220
    I cannot upgrade to a MPT 3.2x

    Tried...
    1) Downloaded the infamous p2k.inf driver but this driver not
    not recognised by "hardware Wizard"
    2) After installing MPT v1.23; v3.11h tried every possible driver
in the MPT folder to no avail
    1) Downloaded the Motorola Drivers.rar
The drivers in the Win98se aren't recognised by "Hardware wizard"
    2) Installing MPT v3.11h and v3.00 and upgrading
There was no Live Update so installed patch from BVRP
Live Update option no available but does nothing
Downloaded the "check LU" from BVRP
This doesn't work as error reading shell32.dll
(tries to uses API SHGetFolderPath which is not referenced in dll)

From my hunting it seems i need at least v3.2x of MPT for a driver to be found.

I have read pretty much every entry on this forum (Hackers Bible & V220 tutorial were excellent) but I am still stuck.

    Please can someone help

    This is what I did:
Well I finally figured it out . I have not been able to use my v551 with mpt and win98se until just now . I tried to install a new driver (p2k)with no luck . The driver would install but in modem properties There was no com port assigned to the usb modem. I finally went into safe mode and went to device manager . selected the usb hub for the modem and updated the driver there(p2k). I restarted the computer and there it was on com port 4 . I then ran mpt and went to setup . Then changed the modem to the usb modem and wam bam thank you mam. it works .
