i cant seem to get my verizon razr v3c to connect with mobile phone tools version 3.25b what can i do to get it to connect?
Also, how bout you follow these steps posted by NMYLES EVERYONE WITH A V3 RAZR LISTEN UP. If you guys or gals are having problems with the MPT Initializing... your phone, I have figured out how to do it. I have Windows XP SP2. Before you start any of this, make sure that your phone is not plugged into the USB connection. Make it seem as if the phone and the computer were never together. 1. Go to Control Panel-->System-->Hardware-->Device Manager. 2. Expand "Modems" and make sure that there are not any unusual modems under the expanded category. In other words, only ONE should be installed and it should be the modem that is in your computer, nothing else. 3. Download and Install MPT v3.11. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL YOUR PHONE. When it asks to detect your phone, click cancel. 4. The default phone picture will come up. Now, go to Menu-->Setup-->Live Update. Follow the prompts to detect, download and install MPT v3.25b. 5. Do not launch MPT. Make sure the program is closed. 6. NOW, plug your phone into your computer via the mini-USB cable. Your computer should detect "New Hardware." Your computer will prompt you to install the software. It will ask you if you want the computer to search for you (Recommended) or it will ask you if you want to manually select the software from a list (Advanced). Make sure you go to the option that allows you to select from a list. 7. It will ask you to search your computer hard drive. You need to direct it to the driver that comes in the MPT v3.25b you just installed. Click BROWSE. The folder you are looking for is titled "W2K_XP_USB_Drivers". It will most likely be in "C:\Program Files\mobile PhoneTools\Inf". 8. Once you have directed the computer to search for the driver in "W2K_XP_USB_Drivers", click on INSTALL or NEXT to continue with the "search and installation" of the phone. It should say "Motorola USB Modem" as it is installing. 9. Allow the entire process to complete. Once it is done and you have clicked FINISH, unplug your phone from the USB cable and power it OFF. 10. Turn your phone back on and allow it to cycle to the main screen. 11. Plug your USB cable back into your phone and make sure it is connected to the computer. Your phone should start charging. 12. NOW, start MPT and and the program should automatically detect your phone and start the initiallizing. In a few seconds you should be up and running. Now if it gets stuck in initializing, do the following: From Stink: As it trying to initializing for ever just click on menu icon-->setup-->general setup F6--> comunication--> modem exchange--> choose form list--> on your left select motorola GSM on your right seclect your fone model click finish it will work now I LOVE how people don't search for their answers on this forum...they figure it's better to start a new post than spend ten minutes finding the information that's already there
the sticky post at the top of the forums should be able to get you fixed. Otherwise go to the guide at poeticfolly.com
Don't use the 3.11, it doesn't support live update. I found the 3.25 somehwere (don't remember where I just Googled it) and it does liveupdate, all the way to v4.04! Matt
Can we even update the razr vc3 for verizon? or only the cingular razr. I hear there was a block or a lock on the phone so we can't update it because verizon is gay.I have the cable and all the software it just won't recognize it.
I've gotten Phone Tools to work with the V3c. Now I'm trying to get PST to work as well. Phone tools supports everything but the MutiMedia stuff, so no picture, video or audio downloads. Kinda sucks, I guess they want to bill you for the bits to get your photos off. I'll post more as (and if) I make progress, but my time to work on it is limited. PS, I installed the 3.25 (I think) MPT over my 3.11h release I'd done before, and it worked, and upgraded via Live update to 4.04. My friend tried the 3.25 and got an error, looking for some key... Sound familiar to anyone? Matt
Also, I used Blue Tooth. Somewhere I read MPT doesn't work to well with the USB cable, but you can charge the phone off of a USB port after you get the driver installed. Matt
