As you can tell I'm new to this forum (and also to cell phones - just got my first one). I've been reading this forum for days and have had many of the questions I've had answered just by searching and reading. I've had my v551 for about a week now and wnat to make some mp3 ringtones for it. I have ordered my data cable and have the MPT software which I think I'll be able to get up and running without much trouble as this subject is covered pretty extensively both in this forum and in others. I'm good with computers and can edit audio/video files with no problems. What I need help with are the specifics for an mp3 ringtone... such as... Is there a filse size limit? Does it have to be a certain kbps/Hz (eg. 64kbps/44,100Hz) What is the "normal" or "average" file size of a ringtone (ballpark - something I can shoot for when editing)? anything else it might be good to know? Any help is much appreciated... thanks
I don't think there's a file size limit. It just depends on what internal memory you have in your phone, but if you only have 1 speaker, it's best to convert your mp3s to mono. I custom make mine using Adobe Audition. I convert them to 56kbps at the most, at 22hz, mono setting. So a 40 second mp3 file comes out to something in between 250k and 400k.
hey rollitup where'd u get the software for the V551, i cant get it anywhere i just have the cable. is there anyway i oculd possibly get it from you?
I ajust my mp3's to less than a minute with melody studio in mpt they load just fine and average about 290 kb's
my phone usually rings for 20 seconds before my voicemail picks up, so my ringers are always 20 seconds or less, 96kbps
All my mp3 ringtones are set to 48KBPS and the file size average is from 120-200k dependin how long the mp3 is a 30 second one is usually 180k. It sounds clear on the highest volume setting(I also edited gain_table and set the speakervolume higher than default).
