Alright so I picked up a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ283BN laptop yesterday. I didn't like that it came with 1,000 trial and demo programs of things I'll never use. I figured I'd downgrade to Windows XP Professional. Now I find out that NONE of the drivers I got from Sony's Website will even try to install as when I run the .exe files it says "This update will only work with Vista". So there is NO way to run Windows XP on my system? Is there any way to at least get Vista Business (what it came with) without all the crap embeded into my restore discs? I have a legit CD-KEY that the notebook came with, I just want the bare bones and none of the other nonsense. I suppose I can learn to use Vista and work around it, but this is just extremely upsetting to say the least. I hate the way they set up the new computers now it's rediculous. Thanks.
This might work. Install the copy you got, then use Magic Jellybean Keyfinder http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml Write down the key, then get a clean copy of Vista, and use your key.
I already have the key, it's finding just a clean copy of Vista that's the problem. Since it came with Vista Business, will my CD-KEY only work w/ Business or if I got Vista Ultimate, would it work with that?
It will only work with Buisness. But if you live on the US and Canada (I think they're the only places), you can upgrade to Ultimate for a cheap price. You can download the Vista disc, or borrow fro ma friend, and use your key.
