Hi, I had some AVI files on my pc that i recently encoded to VCD format, the original file size was approx 700mb & around 4.5gb once id finished encoding. Im trying to put this onto a blank DVD+R disc using nero burning rom 6,im not sure if this can be done??? i dont know how to change the setting to accept this disc size??? can this be done, or am i flogging a dead horse so to speak??? P.S thanx for in advance for any replies that follow.
Hi Fudsta, Your Posting is a little confusing. You say you have an AVI file that you are converting to VCD, but then you say you wan to put it on a DVD? Why VCD? VCD can only be written to CD-R or CD-RW media. Same with SVCD. That is why they have the 'CD' in the name. Which comes to Video Compact Disc (VCD), Super Video Compact Disc (SVCD), and Compact Disc (CD). You should be creating a DVD-Video disc, and you can use Nero Vision Express to take the AVI file and create a DVD-Video disc from it. Regards, Craig Nero Inc USA
When you try to create a dvd though, it inflates the file size loads tho. I have a bunch of 200mb files I want to burn to a single dvd, but it keeps inflating them to 800mb. How do i copy vcd quality movies onto a dvd?
How do you create a poor quality video such as VCD on a better qualify video such as DVD? You can't with Nero Vision Express. You are taking a Video that is in lower resolution and going to a higher resolution. So there will be changes to the File Size. What you can do, is use a third party Encoder software, such as TMPGEnc and convert the source file to MPEG-2/DVD Compliant files and see what size you can obtain with it, and then use Nero Vision to burn the resulting file to DVD-Video. thanks, but thats not really what i meant. What i did was use winavi to convert the avi files to vcd files (mpegs) and then burn the resulting files as a dvd data disc. My dilemma was that i wanted to take the exact same vcd files and simply burn them to a larger medium, so i could store more. Im amazed no-one has encountered this problem. The only thing now is, how do I create a decent looking menu?
