Using DVD2SVCD I created a Mpeg1 and burned it using Nero. I can get the disc to play perfectly on the PC but it goes all blotchy, green and red blocks with very jumpy and scratchy audio when I play it on my JVC DVD player.

I used the 4x write speedon Imation cdr's.

    Please help

DVD Players have issues with some media so that could be your problem! If it plays fine on your computer then that must be it!

I went out and bought some new Phillips CDR's which seem to be about top of the range. This problem still occurs. So we can discount the discount CDR's.
What do you suggest I try next?

go to www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers and look up your player. See what other people are saying about that player. You would be surprised how many players say they can play a certain format, but don't.

I tried that but it seems I am in a minority of 1 when it comes to playing back VCD on my player. What other causes are there of this problem, if we take away the slow burning speed; the cheapo disks; the DVD player?????

confused and tired, looking for a miracle....please???

my suggestion would be to take that disk and try it in another player and see if it plays there. If it plays, then its your player, if not than it is the way you made it.

I changed the settings in DVD2SVCD to give me an SVCD (MPEG2), This plays alright on my DVD player. So I'll stick with the SVCD's for now.

I'll continue to pursue an answer to my VCD problem.

    Thanks for all your suggestions.

    I havent tried this yet.
But heres what i got from others.
U need to encode the file with tmpenge software.
Even if the file is in perfect format and nero doesnt give u any errors.

I am gonna try it tonight. I am hoping it works.

DVD2SVCD uses TMPGEnc (or I chose to use it) as part of the program. It does a good job for me, so I'll continue to use it.
It still does not make me understand why the DVD player which says it plays VCD's AND SVCD's will only play SVCD's.

For svcd's i would recommend that you get CCE SP because the quality is much much higher!

I have had this problem as well.

What you need to do, is piss of Nero and use VCDeasy.

Everytime i used Nero the VCD wouldnt work, everytime i have used VCDEasy they work perfect.

    Good luck with it!

Tookrak, you know a lot about VCDEasy?? I have an annoying problem with it and SVCD! When I mark my chapters and everything with VCDEasy and it builds an image, if i burn it with VCDEasy or anything, when I play it back, skipping chapters just causes pausing and very bad pixelation. I've tried it on 3 dvd players and my computer and got the same result from all of them. Also, every now and then it just skips forward a few minutes for no reason! That also happens if I dont make any chapters.
