    hi!
    i don't know what happened,
    my dvd burner was ok...
but now i can't burn even 1 dvd
it's very verrrrrry slow. more than an hour.
& it always fail in the data verification.
i tried nero, roxio... i uninstalled it & reinstalled it.
    but the same problem.
    i tried different media...
    same thing.
i don't know what happened. maybe i installed something that changed something in my vista settings?
i uninstalled my "daemon tools". but the same problem.
i remember i installed "macdrive" on my vista (a program). but i uninstalled it weeks ago.
why it's burning soooo slow? (&why it failes in the data verification)?
    help

Sounds very much like the DMA setting(s) have slipped into PIO mode. (I assume you have tried un-ticking the verification option?) With xp, it's a simple matter of going to Device manager and double click on the burner and then see what's up. With vista, i can't be sure of what "name" it's under. Hopefully it's something similar. One last point is that Nero and Roxio may conflict, if you can, un-install one, then run a cleaner and see how it goes.

i searched the net already & found that DMA issue.
i went to my device manager & under IDE channel i have dma enabled. so this is not the case:

& i uninstalled roxio... only nero was left but same problem.

Thanks for posting the pic, it's much appreciated when members know you are taking advise(written or otherwise). Perhaps it may be as simple as the quality of the media and speed used, please post details. Two small points however, that could influence an outcome. When you un-installed roxio, did you run a reg cleaner and did you make a system restart? I'm not even slightly familiar with vista, but i can't imagine these efforts should be overlooked. Once this is done and all is the same (snafu) then you've got me worried. There is a glimmer of hope btw, it's the fact that your system should be under warranty. Yep i know it's royal pain to take the unit back etc, but when all else fails....let them work it out.

    EDIT: Typos...

i used 2 different media dvd's that support X16 speed(!)
    silverline & fortis.
    yes i restarted the system.
a reg cleaner? no. i just uninstalled it as a normal software.
is there a special reg cleaner for roxio?
(anyway, in the past i had roxio & nero on the same system & it burned good).

"silverline and fortis" Nope... these are a mystery to me... what part of the world are these manufactured in?. Are TDK's or Verbatims available? As far as reg cleaners are concerned, you'd be hard pressed to get one that isn't overly aggressive in some cases, but CCleaner is a freeware app that has proven it'self for many a year. It was even featured in Microsofts own magazine. Once installed, use the registry "mode" and then follow the prompts. Don't forget to make a restart after any "clean up of un-installs" etc.

    silver line is well known...
& i downloaded ccleaner,it's just deleted some cookies nothing more.
it didn't find anything "big" in my registry just some leftovers from previous unintalled software.

    btw,
i went to my device manager & deleted the IDE channel & restarted vista & now it say "ATA Channel0":

but the problem is the same... (i hoped that it will reset the setting to what i had before the problem).
