i have a hp pavallion ze4200 note book and i have been having problem with my video driver. before formating my harddrive i fixed this problem when i installed nvidia pure dvd decoder but couldnt see any video only audio, when i played a dvd using windows media player . when searching my hard drive i came upon a video driver . i think the name was ATI or ALI display driver i dont quit remember the name but it was some abrevation like that . after i inatalled it it solved all video problems. this computer was given to me so didnt know much about its background.

after i formatted my hard drive i was stuck at the same problem again because i dint save the driver setup. when i go to device manager it shows that a display device is present and it is vga compatable but but no drivers are installed for it.
therefore i know that is the cause of the problem .
when i install hitman 2 i recieve an error message which reports a 3d and screene resolution problem.i have been searching for the driver for it but to tell u the truth i dont even know the name of the video card on the notebook. i really need some help here any advice given would be of great apreciation.

Try right clicking on some empty spot on your desktop screen. Then click on Properties. Then click on Settings.

Doing this on my XP machine brings up a display which tells me what video card is being used on my system.

Once you know the brand, ie. ATI, nVidia, etc. and the Model number - just go to the mfgr web site and download the latest drivers for your card.

Then make a note of the company/model number for the future!
