Hi, There are various formats of video files like avi, wvm, rmvb etc. Does anyone know what file format is good in terms of smaller size? I have seen rmvb format is much smaller in size than avi for the same video.. Are there any tools/sofware available to change the formats from avi to rmvb etc?
Yes, you can convert to RMVB with Easy Real Media Producer: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multim...er-DIVX-Related/Easy-RealMedia-Producer.shtml However, I'd suggest to encode using x.264 instead of RMVB. It is more versatile and portable, many more applications for it. So, make an AVI/MKV using x.264 for compression. You can use Handbrake for that, or any of the software in this thread: http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/20681.cfm
Hello cyprusrom, Thanks for the useful reply. I downloaded the Easy RealMedia Producer and tried to convert an .avi (42MB) but it only creates 15KB rmvb file. Looking at the log file which says "Neither uncompressed audio or video was available in DirectShow Reader" Any idea what could be wrong?
I too recommend h.264 video compression in mkv container because it is widely accepted, there are more and more standalone players that will play them, great video quality for far smaller size than divx, xvid counterparts
