    Hello everyone.
well yesterday i bought a Sony DVD Re-Writer because i had many Music videos in VOB format that i wanted to burn on DVD to watch on standalon player.
so i got a Sony re-writable disk too for experimenting.

after spending nearly 8 hours (all night and morning) learning how to burn a dvd from Authoring to burning through nero.
i successfully Authored the Vobs using TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 wihtout menu after a painfully complicated method for a newbie like me.

then i burn all my videos (dvd folder that TMPGEnc Author created) using Nero on a dvd-rw.
now when i view it on my DVD player that is LG, almost every video freezes on the last 20-25 seconds but the audio doesnt. i was so disappointed. after spending another 5 hours i made my mind that it was bad media (disc) but then i got an idea and i played the dvd from the DVD folder that i still had on my PC using Power dvd. AND TO MY SURPRISE, IT DID THE SAME!!! i re-authored vobs, sometimes fewer, but same hapens everytime. i googled for hours and hours but didnt find any answer.

DO you know whats causing this?

Please do help me and ask me for any information you may need.

i am tired like a donkey i once saw in India who was over-loaded with bricks.
i really hope to see some help when i wake up tomorrow :)

    Thank you guys.

PS- i might post this thread on anorther forum just in case.

    TheLestat,
Just open afterdawn and saw your message in the forum. For a start I suggest you download dvdshrink becos it is much simple than nero and it is a great programme and furthermore it is free. Here is the link http://bbmayo.home.comcast.net/software.htm
    Thanks to bbmayo.
The link from bbmayo will also teaches you the golden rules of good burning. On top of that, you must have good dvd media like verbratims, taiyo yuden or maxell made in japan.
The link is good enough for you as a beginners and you will have bbmayo to thank to.

Thank you very much for replying.
    i really apreciate your input.

i have tried DVDshrink before but it doesnt allow to add vobs. so it was no point for me to go any further.

    Can someone please help?

right now i am trying DVD-lab pro. will let you kow if it works.

after spending 2 hours trying to create a menu with motion clips, i gave up coz i had to do EVERYTHING. i guess Tmpgenc DVD Author does an excellent job of creating animted menus unlike dvd shrink.

    ok everyone.
I really need your help now.

i tried with Dvd-lab and Tmpegnc agin and agin but they are still giving the same problem.

when watching vobs (before authoring) they work perfect. right after authoring they freeze at the end (remember that i am now not burning it on DVD, instead im viewing the folder saved on my hardisk by the authoring softwares)........

    WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM BE????????
i am sure its has to do something with authoring VOBS.
im desprate, so please do respond.

    sure. i'd love to.

ok, so i downloaded some Video clips in vob format off the net. some of them were NTSC and some PAL.

as we know that most authoring softwares dont allow both PAL and NTSC to be on the same disc, i tried patching them using DvdPatcher V. 106 and patched them all the same.

then TMPGEnc DVD Author allowed me to add both NTSC and PAL files now because it got fooled by the dvdpather. but then i faced the problem of files being or not being encoded Dolby or something like that on some videos.
so what i did i put all the videos with same error in a new track by creating a new track from the bar on the left hand and added them.
everything worked fine. it authored the videos. it took me hours to get to this stage.

BUT, i faced another problem when playing the DVD or the authored DVD folder TMPGEnc DVD Author created on my hard disk and th eproblem was that at the end of most videos, the video froze but the audio didnt for like 20-25 seconds.
it drove me nuts. i tried EVERYTHING nothing worked.
then i started playing around with softwares and spent some days.... i got these huge eye bags and dark circles then EUREKA!

this is how i managed to overcome my problems.
Fist i authored evey single vob sepreately using DVD-lab pro to my hard disk. remeber that the videos are the same those were patched with dvdpatcher. i created a seprate folder for every vob that i was going to author.
but then again it started giving me some problems with some videos.
the problem was that when authoring (compiling) certain videos, it gave an error "microsoft runtime error C++ compile.aux" something like that. please note that i didnt play with audios and all like demuxing coz i dont know anything about them.

so i once again made another folder and put all the videos that DVD-lab wouldnt compile.
NOW i move to TMPGEnc Dvd Author and authored those certain videos with it by making sure that the out come dvd wasnt freezing at the end (luckily the tracks those gave errors in DVD-lad didnt freeze the video in TMPGEnc)
Once i got all my folders conating DVDs for each vob, i added them all to DVDshrink and selected not to encode. then burned it using the same software.

Thats the way i did it.

if anything here confused you or should there be anything you want to know, please ask right away. i'll be more than happy to help you.

    :)
