Hi, I'm new to all this so please forgive my ignorance. I want to buy a DVD recorder, but I'm not sure if they can all record from video tapes and can you record to video from DVD? If so is it easy to do? I would appreciate any information recieved. Thank you.
i have a panasonic dvd recorder with a hard drive and i love it. uses dvd-r/ram. connect your vcr to one of the in slots on recorder and you can record any old vhs tape or one that was taped through tv. wont record any new vhs tape with protection on it. you can record to hd, edit and transfer to dvd-r/ram, or burn directly to dvd-r/ram. same goes for dvd movies. will burn any backup dvd's, but not new ones with protection. also burn any home movies that you have on camcorder. but dont get one without a hard drive. you will probably regret it. richard
Hi i bought a dvd recorder last year but was dissapointed as i really only wanted one to record my video tapes on to dvd - or + plus disc.I couldn't edit stuff out. i had to record on dvd rewritables and trying getting the tape stopping when i want it to, but had to erase and stop and do it again but this stuffed up the whole disc as i had to erase all of it when one chapter got stuff. Does that DVD recorder with the 80 gig able to record stuff off old video tape on to the dvd recorder hard drive and then you can edit like 3 seconds of the end and then burn on to disk.I dont like to transfer Videotape to videotape as it loses quality editing what i dont want. Also with the chapters naming the title is there more then 8 character as my dvd rubbish recorder cannot put more then 8 characters like the title Holiday in the U.S.A
on the panasonic dvd recorder with 80 gig or 120 gig you can play your vcr tape and record it to the recorders hard drive. then edit it in any way you want. cut 1 second or as many as you want. and i dont think it has a limit as to how many characters you can name it. ive gone up to 15. it is recorded to the hard drive as one title, one chapter. you can then divide titles and create chapters if you want. or, just burn to dvd-r and it will automatically divide the title up into 5 minute chapters. i think it is the best way to convert tapes to dvd, but the quality will stay the same as the tape. richard
