Hey, I'm hoping you all can help a noob out with my HTPC video problem. I just built it and all was working well when I had the display output to my monitor. However, when I connected it to my plasma, all my video files like DVD, MPEG, AVI still play but I get no video, audio is fine. I get the same result with WMP, TheaterTek, or QuickTime. I've updated video card drivers and was able to play a couple DVD files okay, but I restarted and lost it again. I can't figure this out...if I switch back to my monitor, videos play fine, but every time I connect to my plasma...nope. It seems like it's got to be a GPU issue (7600GS) but I just can't figure out the how and why. Any insight would be majorly appreciated.
Often, video cards are "set" to only send certain video signals to one monitor. This is commonly called "theater mode" and can probably be found in your video card's configuration software.
I couldn't find a theater mode but I've been nosing through the settings for hours. Nothing seems to make any difference. I tried hooking up the monitor through the VGA input of the TV and got video to work. But that's not very practical as a full time solution since the VGA connection is on the front of my Pioneer media receiver. So whatever is going on only happens when running through the DVI-HDMI cable.
