I know that on a plasma TV there is a stretch option that will get rid of 90% of the black bars when watching dvds. My question is is it possible to do this on my viewsonic vx2025wm 10:6 ratio widescreen monitor that I just picked up. If its possible on a plasma then I would think that there would be a way to do it on monitors. Thanks

Sometimes it depends on if those black bars are being placed there by the Player...or if some "nucklehead" placed back frames top/bottom trying to make a 4:3 video look like a "widescreen"<--if this is case..nope you stuck with them.

Two options, you can stretch the video vertically as you already mentioned or you can crop the sides off. I wouldn't recommend either. Should also point out that it shouldn't matter if it is WS 4:3 since you can still stretch it on a PC.
