Virgin broadband PC GUARD Help??

    when i try to do a full scan with virgin broadband pc guard it never completes, it gets up to scanning 5000-7000 files but freezes. I have tried uninstalling and installing pc guard but still the same problem consists, why is this???
    When i open pc guard my computer is running smoothly. After a while Rps.exe(pcguard- is taking up 50% of my cpu usage, Why is this????

    Can you please answer both questions??
