    Hi,

I have the standard virginmedia TV package, and notice that there are various people selling their V+ HD boxes on *bay and other auction sites. My question is, if I was to buy one of these boxes, would they work for me or do i need to subscribe to another service from Virginmedia? Also, i have a standard box at the moment, could I simply plug that into another room in the house where there is a virgin cable feed already?

    Thanks all
    nme

Firstly, these boxs are matched / paired to the card, So you will need a card for them to work, If the person selling, has stopped their account the services on that card wont work, so you will either have to get a card for it from VM and thats if they supply them, the only thing I can see is the Hard drive that is of any use, perhaps I am wrong on this if someone can add to it

Your own box will work in any room in the house once you have a live cable feed to that room

Ahhh - thanks - so I guess I could ring Virginmedia and ask them for a second card? Would there be a charge for that, do you know?

    Thanks

not sure mate to be honest, but as they own the equipment I am sure they would ask why your looking for a card for a box that belongs to some one else, again, I can stand corrected on this, unlike Sky, you own the box after the year, it is up so you can move it, sell it etc, but the VM boxs, they own them and am surprised that they are allowed on fleabay, why not look at the Kryptview A780 if your looking for a cable box

Cool, thanks for the coming back - will probably skip this and go with freeview - or perhaps something that can distribute tv around the house.

    thanks

as mickah z the box is matched wif card, u can order multi room through VM for an xtra £5 til £7 per month per box anyway n they wil link it to watever room u want wif same package as u hav on ur main box. its £50 1 off payment to VM to activate each box for hd. not sure if allowed to say this or not n apologise if not but no alot of people gettin multi room then givin m8s the xtra boxes n splittin bill between them (say 3 people at £20 each) better than the alternative of payin for full package on ur own, hope this helps but box on its own just cant c it workin tbh, hope this helps
