    Hello,
I am new to this forum and I am looking for a slight answer to a problem that I am having.

    Problem:
I have a video that I am trying to edit, by edit I mean crop.
The original size of the video is: 1.36GB (Though I can probably get it down to 700MB easily)
Anyway, every time that I open the video in VirtualDub and add the cropping to it and save as avi, my computer goes haywire. Meaning that the file size at 30% complete is a staggering 62GB.
Now I am not sure why this is, but I need (rather I would like) some help as soon as possible.

    What I am using is:
    VirtualDub Version: 1.8.8.0
HP Pavilion Laptop with 62.9GB of free space
    Microsoft Vista O/S
I also have an External Hard drive (74.6GB out of 465GB free space)

If anyone can please message me that would be excellent.
I thank you all in advance

You have to choose the video compression codec, otherwise
Virtualdub puts out uncompressed RGB, which is massive.

Select video/compression/ (divx or xvid)/ restore defaults.

That's your starting place. Now save the avi.
