    Hello All,

Just trying to rip DVD for the first time. I am using the following guide.
    http://web.telia.com/~u31220486/dvd2avi/dvd2avi.htm
At VirtualDubMod step, I get the following error.
*Couldn't locate decompressor for format vifp (unknown)
VirtualDub requires video for windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress this video. Direct show codecs, such as those use by windows media player, are not suitable. Only Direct Stream copy is availble for this video.*

Anybody can give me suggestion what is the problem here and how do I solve it?

    Thanks in advance

DON'T use VFAPI. No one who is serious has recommended it for years since it involves a forced RGB24 colourspace conversion.

My advice would be to use something like AutoGK or FairUse Wizard. Unless you really know what you are doing, they will give you better quality than doing things manually.

I used AutoGK but the output file had black band on the top but not below the frame!! I have no idea why it would happen like that and so I switched on to this guide.
I will give a try to Fairuse Wizard
