    Hi All,
New to the forums and looking for some help with Virtualdub error. I'm using the modded Virtualdub-mp3-freeze version. I am trying to join 2 avi files(using the tutorial posted on here) but I am getting this error msg - "Cannot append segment: The video streams use incompatible compression types".

Is there a way to fix this problem? I will post below avi(video) specs for both files.

    CD1:
    Framerate - 29fps
    Data rate - 175kbps
Video sample size - 24 bit
    Vid compression - XVID

    CD2:
    Framerate - 29fps
    Data rate - 269kbps
Video sample size - 12 bit
    Vid compression - XVID

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

I think the video sample sizes being different are causing the error.
And by going out on a limb, it may be possible to change the flag in one of the files to match the other.
Make a copy one of the files, then run VirtualDub and under 'Tools' select the Hex Editor and load the file.
Find the required byte, change the value, save the new value then try loading the files normally.

24 decimal is 18 in hex.
12 decimal is 0c in hex.
