My Windows Firewall stopped working recently. I can't recall that I did anything special before it halted. Windows did however install updates and I noticed it after I logged in again, afaik it worked before that. Tried starting the firewall from control panel got Error code 0x80070424. Tried this already: http://blogs.technet.com/b/asiasupp...-not-available-in-services-database-list.aspx Afterwards no error from control panel (just loads and then nothing), but from services.msc (when starting the firewall) I get "windows could not start the windows firewall on local computer. for more information, review the system event log. If this is a non-microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 5."
Sounds like you may have some type of infection You may want to try Ad-Aware or Malwarebytes.You can also use the Microsoft Fixit center and see if it finds anything. http://fixitcenter.support.microsoft.com/Portal
