On occasion, if I'm using Vista, the desktop icons and taskbar disappear. I can't do anything except restart the laptop. How can I fix this?

Maybe an internal error. You probably have to check for errors. right click on your 'c drive' and click on properties. click on 'tools tab'. under error checking click 'check for errors'

I had a problem like this. My computer couldn't handle Vista. (I knew it couldn't, but my dad insisted). Vista's Explorer has a crashing problem. Next time it happens, go into Task Manager, end the Explorer process, then start it again.

yeah alex is right. it happened to me some time. usually explorer starts up by himself after that. try waiting for a few moments. it stopped happening to me after i updated my vista few times.
