i use windows vista ultimate x64... my mother board is ASUS m2npv-vm with its onboard soundmax audio card.... i installed the latest drivers available for vista x64 for this motherboard ..... when i click on sound(in control panel)..i get "speakers working'...when i click on configure i get quadraphonic...since i use creative 4.1..on testing all the four satellite speakers ..i get sound on the RR RL FR FL(all speakers).. but when i play any mp3..or videos i dont get the sound in the RR and RL speakers...(the driver version is 6.10.2.6100..i guess this is the latest 1)
So they work for everything but your music files? I would check setting either in the control panel or if your sound card or drivers have any software it uses. Probably just a setting is off somewhere. Make sure the correct soundcard is chosen as the default in the audio tab in the sound controls (control panel) Only other thing i can think is that you do not have the codec for MP3 files for whatever player your using. I have never used 4.1 but i know my Realtek High-Def 8.0 audio drivers have their own program with many settings in them.
well thank you but not quite helpful.... i use k-lite codec pack...(**all the codecs are in place**) when i meant "speaker working"..i meant the status as shown in the control panel->sound.. and creative 4.1 means the speaker..not the soundcard... there is no software with control panels for vista x64 for "Soundmax integrated digital hd audio.."i suppose this is my integrated sound card...!the only thing i could find was drivers...(**already installed **) P.S all the 4 speakers emit sound only when i test it ...otherwise there is no sound at all in the RearRright and RLeft... thank you...!!!
