hello i have windows vista pre-rtm 5840 and i made the mistake of completly formatting my system and putting vista as my main OS now i wanna put xp x64 on another partition but the problem is i dont wanna delete everything and start over so i need patition software that compatible with vista i have tried partiton magic and thats not compatible
Install system commander then reboot. At the OS load screen, go to system wizard or os wizard or whatever it was to get you to the system commander desktop. Click start, er, whatever it is, and go to partitioning. Do your stuff then hide all the partition except the one your going to use, which you'll mark active. Reboot with your windows install cd in the drive then install to your partition(completelly finish the installation). Then reboot with the system commander restore disk. After this you can delete system commander from your computer or keep it as its very usefull for system recoveries. -EDIT I loaded up system commander 7 on my laptop and if you get that, you can just click partitioning at the os selection menu to skip everything from loading system commander to the actuall partitioning.
