    Hi there.

I used to have no problem burning, ripping and backing up my DVDS in xp, However in vista I am experiencing problems.

In xp I used to use shrink to rip and back up and a old version of nero to burn. Had no problems used to work fine.

But in vista im using Dvd fab to rip and nero 7 (burning rom) to burn the files. However the dvd always freeze in the same place when played in my player. My DVD player is working fine as the discs I burned in XP play fine.

Can anyone help as to why this is happening? and does anyone know of a successful solution to my problem. Could you please break it down for me im new to this

    Thank you and kind regards

Im using tesco own brand discs.

    Could this be the problem?

How do you play the video_ts folder from your hard drive. I managed to go through some of the vob files and they seem to play ok. but how do you test the entire folder?

    Many thanks

If you are using Nero to burn do you have Nero Showtime? It will play the file.
Yes those are bad discs, try Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. The discs were cheap for a reason.

I tried one of the files (film) it worked perfect with nero showtime and did not skip. So could disks be the reason the film freezes in my DVD player.

However its weird cos when I had XP with nero 5 (i think) on my desktop I used tesco DVDs and the played fine no problems.

But now Im using a laptop with nero 7 and been experiencing problems.

    Bit confused now?

    Kind Regards.

your player is having a problem with those cheap, crappy disks. Use better quality disks and you'll be fine! Taiyo Yuden or MIJs (Made In Japan) disks are the way to go....... or buy Verbatim. The difference is worlds apart.

did you upgrade an existing computer to Vista or did you buy a new computer with Vista installed on it? the reason I am asking, is the burner new or the existing burner? If you are using the same old disks and now after upgrading to Vista on your existing system...... that's one thing..... but if you bought a new computer with Vista on it and you are using a new burner with those cheaper media that used to work ...... the newer burner could be having a problem with the crappy media! You can't lose with better media that is more acceptable to players/burners! Taiyo Yuden wins hands down...... that's all I use. Verbatim is another disk that is great and readily available in stores. Stay away from the Made In India disk. If you are buying Verbatim.... buy the Taiwan/Singapore disks! Check label on spindle or box! this should stop your problem.
