Sorry - you guys are so clever and I'm just an old lady trying to watch tv on my computer. Can I use the free VLC to view a folder of bups, ifos and vobs, or do I have to "author" them with Powerdvd just to view them? And if I wanted to firewire my pc to the tv to get a bigger picture, can I use VLC?
Hush neither VLC nor Power DVD will 'author' the files - they are more in the line of software 'DVB Players'.We don't want the Geeks on our back. Power DVD has the bells and whistles, but VLC is all most of us need. Click "File" -> "Open Directory" then navigate to the folder that contains the files (might be 'Video_TS') highlight the folder and click "OK". It will read the files and start running just like a standalone DVD player. The only thing is you have to figure out where the 'buttons' are or you just let it get to the main menu (just like waiting for a standalone player) and use your mouse to select what you wish to play. Can't help you with Firewire;works of the Devil.
