well i know the subject of this title is kinda hard to understand so i'll break it down for you guys. I have ashampoo shrink and burn, and before i had my dvd burner i would convert my avi files to svcd. being svcd the extension would be .vob. Now when the files woould change too vob they would grow in size, so i would use multiple cds to burn one movie on to. Now i have a dvd burner, but when i convert the avi's to vobs and burn it on the dvd, the dvd players in my house cant recognize it. I'm using dvd+r media (sony dvd's), on a samsung dvd player.

Now i thought to myself maybe i shoudl use dvd-r instead of +r. However, i have a friend that says as long as the avi is converted properlly any dvd player should be able to play the movies. I'm not sure if this is true, but my friend is like a guru at dvd burning.

Now i was just wondering if anyone could help me with avi to dvd problem and confirm if my friend was right.

    Thanks in advance
P.S i hav ealso tried using winAvi with no success
