Hi - New boy here and this my first post so I hope I am in the right slot.
I have been using ConvertX with great success, and with no problems, for some time now, but suddenly, out of the blue, it has started crashing, mostly during the conversion stage.
I would be grateful for any advice on how to fix the problem or failing that can anybody recommend a prog that is as good.
    Many thanks

The freeware program 'DVD Flick', while not as sophisticated as ConvertX, can convert AVI, mpeg, etc and will allow the addition of subtitles.
Basic menus can be generated and there is an optional burning program (IMGBurn) included to burn the disk.
A concise guide is included with the software.

    Things to check
    1. antispyware programs running in the background.
    2. virtual cd drive programs (ultraiso etc)
    3. windowblinds or other program appearence modifiers
    4. hard drives set to pio instead of dma
    5. windows explorer video thumbnail problems this can cause crashes.

You can try and move your input files to a different hard drive/partition and see if that fixes the problem.

Also you can do a scandisk (with fix errors box check) to fix any possible problems on the drives.
