Hey I want o reverse what I've to my beautiful XP MCE. I made it look like vista, only it looks nothing like vista at all. If you could tell me how to reverse what I did following this video that be great. http://youtube.com/watch?v=bi_Uw7NpuLQ
Only thing that comes to mind, is Add/Remove programs. Any "Vista" transformation pack, is hot eye candy on the outside, and a premium nuclear bomb on the inside. Those that have had it work, say it works great... others have been brought to their knees in agony and have had to repair the installation. It's so much easier to just theme them yourself with WindowBlinds. Thousands of themes, icons, boot screens, you name it.
Well I uninstalled it and I still have remnants of it. The logon screen still hasn't been returned to default and the task bar from the pack is still there, even when I set it to default I have this. http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k6/21q2/start.jpg I hope that this can be reversed without reinstalling my system.
I had to do a System Restore, messed up World of Warcraft, and Half-Life 2 no longer works. Ya, I HATED the Vista Transformation pack.
Those that I have heard, having problems with the transformation pack, have all had to reinstall XP. The pack, isn't just a "theme" like WindowBlinds (that uses different software), it, like the uxtheme patch, overwrites (changes) critical system files. If.. the removal program is faulty (which I'd say it is), it doesn't replace the changed files with the originals. Leaving your system corrupted.
So there is no way to restore my computer to defaults? Even the icons from the pack have somehow reappeared after a reboot.
System Restore back before you installed, even then it was it left my computer a little messed up. I still have some wallpapers, I have a significantly large amount of Critical Errors for World of Warcart, and I have frequent lockups. I guess it works if you are going to keep it for awhile.
I have had many bad experiences with restore, plus its been about 2-3 months so i wouldn't know which day to pick.
Take it for what it's worth. An experience.... left in the space time continuim, never to be experienced again. Back up... clean install.
He is right you might have to clean install. I used radium vista pack and too was getting errors. I got lucky and a system restore did work for me exceot for the fact that I still have vista themed folders and recycle bin. As far as my system files everything restored properly. With the vista transformation pack your computer gets screwed until you format and reinstall. Sorry for your luck.
