WANTED: a sega genesis game expert

there once was this game that i loved to play about 10 years ago when i was 5, but that was 10 year ago. but now that i have a genesis emulator, i can play all of my childhood classic games. the problem is that there is one that i have forgotten the name of, so thats why im posting this. i can only remember a little bit but i remember that your this one guy and you run around a village in the forest and you can go in the huts. and at one point a wolf attacks you in the village. theres also a dessert nearby with worms that pop out and a wise old wizard (I THINK) that helps you. and near the cost theres this shiny orb thingy. the game is very dark colored and thats about all that i can remember. so if you have ANY idea what game this is please post because i would really like to have this game again. oh and this game MIGHT not be on the genesis. it could be on the snes, but im almost sure its the genesis. thanks if you help.
