My wife has downloaded several music files with the .wav extension. They play in all the players (realplayer, Winamp, Windows Media Player, ect.). She wanted me to convert them to mp3, so I run them through LAME with no luck, just got noise. I changed the .wav extension to .mp3 by simply renaming the file with a .mp3 extension and the files still played in all the players. How can I tell what the real format of these files are?
Wave files will be about 10 times larger than mp3 files if you can compare them to a know file. Also you could run them through a program where you know what the output is , such as ...http://nch.com.au/switch/ Good luck.
