The guys over at http://www.motofan.ru are working on a project that will greatly benefit the Motorola Community and THEY NEED OUR HELP GREATLY!

Once this project is complete, the following capabilities will be made available for our Phones:

    * Generate the proper signatures to create Custom Flash files! (Never been done before!!!)
    * COMPLETE Phone Backup!
    * Custom Monster Pack Creation
    * Custom Flexlashes
    * Ability to download ANY Memory Range from your phone in .BIN format!

They are trying to generate a key for use with Motorola phones. The process they are using is called "Distributed computing." Basically, This involves thousands of computers all over the world all working together to solve a complex task. Each computer downloads a small section of a file, processes the information, then sends it back to the source. After that the process is completed until all the necessary information has been obtained and a key can be generated. This process is the exact same ones used for SETI@HOME and Folding@HOME, if you have heard of those.

SO PLEASE, Follow these instructions and leave this program running on your computer while you sleep or at work. I've currently got this runnin on all my 3 computers because I want these abilities SO MUCH!

Working together, we can achieve a great goal that will be beneficial for everyone involved!

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Register a Username at the site http://moto.inhex.net (This is a 5-second process!)
    2. Download Client App & DLLs [ http://www.motomodders.net/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=5604 ] (You will find the latest download links there ...)
    3. Extract both .ZIP files to the Same Folder on your PC.
    4. Run "motorsa.exe"
    5. In the "URL" make sure it says: "www.moto.inhex.net/cgi-bin/serv.cgi" (If it's not in there, type it in!)
    6. In the low left corner type "1" and press "Set"
    7. Type your login and password in corresponding fields (make sure login and pass are identical to those you specified during registration)
8 Check the "Auto" checkbox to automatically send and retrieve new files when you are done processing them.
    9. Press "Fetch package"
    10. Press "Start"

By moving the "Priority" slider you can control the CPU resources allocated to the processing of the file. The default value will work just fine, but while you sleep you could increase it to 100% to process files twice as fast! If you increase it to 100% while other apps are running, you will experience a decrease in performance.

Please Read if you have a Pentium4 with Hyperthreading:
If you have P4 with HT enabled, you can run 2 clients at once to get 100% CPU load.
    1. Run client and choose "1" in low left corner
    2. Run another copy of client and choose "2" in low left corner
    3. Do everything else as usual.

    FAQ

Q: How can I view the statistics of what is going on with this project?
A: The statistics are updated hourly and can be viewed at http://moto.inhex.net/stat.txt

Q: This sounds fishy. How do I know this isn't Spyware?
A: Because here is the Source code to the project! [ Download Source Code ]

Q: How many packages are there in total to be processed?
A: Well... about y0^yshch0. (A number with 150 zeros) Yes there are alot of packages, this is why we need YOUR help!

Q: Is it necessary to process all packages to find a key?
A: No, the amount of packages we need to process to find a key are only a fraction of a percent! We need enough packages to find commonalities between them.

Q: How long does it takes to process one package?
A: About a few days on average PC (For example it takes about 19 hours to process package on AMD 64 3000)

Q: How much time will it take to find a key?
A: It depends on how many people are going to participate in this project. (This could be from one month to a year). If everyone at MoMo gets involved, this time will be significantly less!

Q: What's the size of each package?
    A: About 400 bytes.

Q: I have only 128mb of ram is that Enough?
A: The client needs only 5mb of ram to function!

Q: I processed xx% and the client suddenly crashed! Does this mean I lost all the work it did?
A: No. Just restart the program, and the work will continue where it left off.

Q: My login is "John Smith" the program is not working, what should I do?
A: Login must not contain spaces.

Q: How can I put the Application in the System tray?
A: You can use TrayIt: http://www.teamcti.com/TrayIt

Q: How will I know when the key has been found?
A: Just process and send the package. When we find the key you'll be informed.

Q: I have several PCs at my disposal. How can I make them work together?
A: You need to make a separate account for each of them.

Q: Do I need to be connected to the Internet at all times while this program is running?
A: Only when Fetching and Sending files is the Internet required. The file processing is completely done on your computer and no Internet is needed for that.

Q: Do I have to do this on the computer I modify my RAZR on?
A: No! You can do it on as many computers as you like. The actual process involves no connection to your phone. It relies on the sheer computational power of a computer and only that!

Q: Can I run this program on Linux?
A: Absolutely! You can compile this just fine under Linux with gcc && qt && gmp libs. This program also runs wonderfully under Wine and Cedega. A console version is in the works as well!

Q: Why does it say "Please update client" when I try to fetch or send a package all of the sudden?
A: This is due to new versions of the Client Application being released. The latest files are always available at http://moto.inhex.net/client Sometimes it may take us a bit to realize this and we have to get the links changed once a new version is released.

Q: I can't read Russian and I want to check out www.motofan.ru. Is this possible?
    A. It sure is with the help of friendly Babelfish translation. Click HERE for a translation of the site. It's not perfect, but you can get the idea of what is being said.
