I built a pc for a mate and it is running Windows XP with sp1, and IE 6. I have an ordinary 56k modem, when I try to log on to the internet to sign on to EIRCOM (southern Ireland) I get an Internet Explorer page that says "The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings." And at the bottom it says "Cannot find server or DNS Error Internet Explorer" I have checked the winsock32.dll and reinstalled the networking components but still no joy, the modem appears to be working and at times the network says 'connected', but still no web pages! Please help me before I lose it completely!!
so your not getting any pages at all?// first off is your firewall stopping you from connecting secondly download mozilla firefox if still no joy contact your ISP hope this helps RavenLife
I checked a few pages; eircom, google and of course AD then got firefox off a cover disk, tried the same sites and still no joy. The firewall isn't the problem as I tried it with and without, with no change. I was in the process of trying to conect to an ISP so not really with one as of yet,(no bloody helpline at weekend).
