@Ireland: forgive my ignorance in such matters but I'm curious, why the three different operating platforms?

i have no use for xp-poop or do i like it with its drm and sp-2.
the xp systems i use are at only sp-1..and a must.. i have a back up drive with xp so i can ghost the main xp that i am using.i never use the restore feature in xp..

2000 is the most stable system out,can you say this,i did one total reformat of 2000 since late 1999 and it was the second day of the install, and it was my fault..and i moved the same system from mother board to mother board.as i updated my computer.i do keep a current ghost back up which i do once a month...

how meny times did you have to do a restore or a total reformat of xp?
sp-2 on xp causes so meny conflicts with installed software,i got tired trouble shootng the problems.most of the burning problems of dvds started with sp-2.a ton of us will not install sp-2..
i can go on and on,that will be for another time.
i do install sp-2 when i am beta testing some software..then when i am done i ghost back to sp-1.

note i was one of the original beta testers of xp..

a tip:i never store data on c-drive it is all stored on a external drive..c is used only for programs.,.the max i allow on c is 25 gb.

i do like 40gb hard drives..on some systems i use 75gb..because there easy to get then 40gb hd...
    cheers

Hmm, you obviously know a few things about xp, and file systems ireland, i have a question, i have 3 HDD's, a 140, 160, and a new 40. I heard programs would be more stable and better performance if i installed xp onto the smallest drive, then installed all my programs/and other large documents onto the other(s) harddrives. I might reformat soon, but if i do this, i think i will be searching down files among the Hdds. And another question/problem, im running xp pro corporate edition, and when ever i insert a black cd-r into my cdburner(sony DRU-810a) It says Incorrect function. It can burn data cd's, and data, video, dvd's perfectly, but not audio cd's. Ive tried with nero, winamp, WMP, and other burning programs. I think the CD burning program, included with this version was stripped out. Also, the driver that allows for audio burning, and that one autorunt that pops up when you insert a black CDR.

Seanzor, please do not hijack a thread with a queston that is not relative, please post in the hardware section, otherwise you will annoy others. What's with the 8 minute gap between exact posts?
