I have two mpg files on my hard drive which make up one movie. I have joined them. What do I do not to get them to my DVD burner so I can burn them and watch them on the DVD player in my livingroom or take them to my mom's so she can watch it? I can't figure out what to convert the MPG file to in order to burn it? Please help me with this. Thanks. hh
The first thing you should do is have a look on the forums to see if this question hasn't been asked a million times before, secondly there are guides on the front page (for future reference). You need to convert that mpeg into mpeg2, a dvd compliant video stream. Before you do that you should check the audio stream to see if it's got ac3 (dolby digital) soundtrack. Most of the time it won't usually i don't even bother checking, but when i have g-spot is what i've used. Haven't tried others so don't really know how good it is, does the job tho. I've never bothered with it personally, so i don't know how to extract the ac3 s/track, tho there are guides out there. I use tmpgenc or mainconcept mpeg convertor, it will automatically convert the video part to mpeg2 and also give you another file for the sound track, usually wave (can be others but i've only ever used wav). Then i fire up dvd labs (full version, which has never given me any troubles, i like it alot, very easy to use if you take the time, very flexible features for dvd authoring. Import the two files into dvd labs, the audio and video(audio will be wav, vid will be m2v, usually) they'll show up in the bottom panel, simply create a new movie box, drag the video into it. This will open out into frame by frame analysis. Then click and drag the audio file into the bottom sound bar and then just create the menus, as many as you want, buttons links, sound video, endless. ONce it's all done simply create dvd or whatever it's called and it does everything for you, muxifies the movie (combines the audio and video) and creates all the menus etc. d/l the trial version and have a go, it really isn't as complicated as it sounds. This i think is the easiest way to go about it, without using the nero vision express suite, which i also own, and dislike. Each to their own tho. You can make it a lot more complicated than this if you want, but for me i only use top quality avi's to begin with, so it really doesn't make much difference (for me, i'm not fussed, but cce is a better encoder. and you will notice the difference). Good luck, keep us posted.
I use TMPGEnc dvd author with this guide.http://www.dvd-guides.com/guides.php?category=dvdauthor&name=tmpegencdvdauthor trial version available at the top of the page. dvd author will tell you if youve done everything right, settings, audio, etc. It even has its own writting tool.I use nero burning rom,to burn the files, but i have used the writting tool also, they both work fine. There's many ways to do it,so its just a matter of choice, and some trial and error(hopefully not too much of the latter)lol have fun happy trails jim _X_X_X_X_X_[small]no matter where you go,there you are.[/small]
