I'm new to this forum which I just stumbled upon. I'd appreciate some help as I am not up to speed on computers etc. Heres what Im looking to do: I am a football coach and I get games recorded on dvd. I want to have games analysed and am looking for software solutions to do that. I would also like to do compilations of various extracts from different games. What software do I need to get to do these things and also which is better for the job - a laptop or a mac? Thanks
Coach program DVD Flick ( freeware ) Laptop ( not many progs run on Mac ) Try this link here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/552742
use dvd shrink to help chop up the dvd, its a free app. and very good and easy to use, then as mentioned use dvd flick another great app to jion and make menu...
Thanks for the replies. Still not fully tuned in. I have tried to dvd shrink but an error message keeps appearing - 'dvd shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Programming error - exception occured'.
have a look into the folders on the dvd via my computer and the drive, tell me whats on there folder wise and files...
Just checked in my computer; it tells me there is a folder VIDEO_TS. Dony see anything in that folder; I may have deleted stuff from it by accident since..
so the dvd you made yourself has nothing in the VIDEO_TS folder? well that bad! also there should be an AUDIO_TS folder with nothing in, this is ok and normal. tell me do the dvd's from the games play ok on pc and load ok to dvd shrink for testing chopping up?
This was a basketball dvd that I had purchased but I was tricking around with Nero and seem to have deleted it. I was trying to convert it to avi? in Nero so that i could then work on it. Is this the correct way of doing it? Im totaly confused now..
you had this dvd shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Programming error - exception occured'. as you said the file is missing possible. or it could been copyproction on that dvd you where ripping in you don't need to covert to avi to burn a dvd. you can use either nero or shrink to cut and save clips.. shrink guide. 1st http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/tutorial001.html 2nd http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/clips_guide2.html i have to look for the recode one if i find it.i will edit in. edit i can find the guide i have but you can do in recode or Nv i believe.. i went to recode and selected main movie and you can trim in there its pretty easy
you can convert to avi or mpeg etc depends what app your useing and what you need to do to it. yes as mentioned if a store bought dvd then prolly has copy protection in it, so need to rip it out/to hard drive as folders/files anydvd + clonedvd 2/dvd shrink or dvdfab ripper to get the files first for editing without the copy protection in.
Rotary thanks again. Another quetiosn you might help me with. I have been transferrring old football videos onto dvds (-r). They play fine in the dvd player but dont play at all on my pc. Why would that be?
i would say its down to discs used? what was the dye info on the disc? use dvdinfopro or dvd identifier or imburn to tell us. are these the dvdrs you made up yourself and got to work now? i have known dvdr be read for burning on a pc then after not be read by a pc, its happened to me, as you say the dvdrs you made work on a standalone player ok. or are the discs from/MADE on a dvd standalone player?
I made the dvds on a standalone JVC video /dvd converter machine. The dvds i am using are called DVD-R16x for Professional made by Taiyo Yuden. On the info it says they are not suitable for use with dvd-r/rw drives which do not comply with the new dvd-r specifications for 16x writing speed. all i know about them is that there are two dvd drives NEC DVD_RW ND-4550A Sony cdrw/dvd crx33oE. Would you know from that if they are suitable
. this would be a firmware issue. heres a link ... http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2184 .. ty yudens are good media. try updating ur firmware.
if you made the discs on a standalone player you probably need to finalise the disc via the standalone, to be seen better. but standalone recorders use dvd-VR format and is probably why dvd shrink cant read it with erroring... try to finalize the disc then load in pc and tell me what files/folders are on the disc...
