TMPGEnc DVD Author will not affect the AC3 file in any way other than to combine it into the VOB structure. No re-encoding is done.

How did you convert a WAV file to dolby 5.1? In order to create of a truely multi-channel Dolby 5.1 audio file (with surround sound)you actually need to start with 5 separate WAV files containing the five separate channels to be combined.

If you just converted 1 WAV file to an AC3 file via Besweet or Sonic Reel DVD, you will just have a stereo signal that plays through multiple speakers (but still in stereo rather than surround).
