I am wanting to buy a DVD Recorder that has a hard drive (120 GB) etc.
Does anyone have any ideas of what to get or what not to get?

    Thanks

Brands and model numbers if possible.

    What is your purpose
My choice, with 160gb HDD, would be the LiteOn LVW-5045

Want to use it to record TV programs that my wife watches. She now has no many regular programs that she records that my Sony VHS will not let her program for that many TV programs.

I still reccomend the LiteOn 5045. It is a very good unit that will rcord to either + or - disks although onewers have said the + disks work better, also the specs say it will record to a CD - disk It has a HDD can be hacked
I have the ilo RHDO4 made by LiteOn and basicly a 5045 with 80gb HDD, + disk recording only, purchased a year ago. At todays prices I would get the 5045.
They can be had for under $300.00, on line, with no tax or shipping
