The "American Dream" is simply wanting to be successful and financially independent.

The American Dream is the belief held by many in the United States of America that through hard work, courage, and determination one can achieve a better life for oneself, A Donna Summer song from the 1982 eponymous album entitled 'Living in America', perfectly sums up this dream.

"Living in America" is a song by James Brown, composed by Dan Hartman and Charlie Midnight. It was originally released in 1981, on a compilation entitled The Best of James Brown, but became popular in 1985 when it was prominently featured in the film Rocky IV, in which Brown performs the song. It was released as a single that same year, and reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song was subsequently included on Brown's 1986 album, Gravity, and again on various other compilations throughout the 90s. It was also featured in an episode of The Simpsons, 2000's "Saddlesore Galactica", in which the elementary school band play the song at a state fair.

well Hunter Thompson went in search of the American Dream in the book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas... He thought he found it. But his was a savage notion that the american dream could be found in vegas which I guess is true, the american dream is to get rich quick...at least for the most part...

    IMO

Happyness, Love, and Wealth is the American Dream.

the american dream is different to everyone. for the most part, i'd say financial security and independence. for me, it's having a good home, a wonderful family, and a peaceful/happy life. maybe one day i'll have it.
