i am tryin to find a new program to try and burn with and i keep hearing about this program called dvd shrink. what is it?
hi honey105, Welcome to AD. Dvd shrink is a freeware (no charge) program that allows you to compress a retail dvd (store-bought) down to fit on a blank dvd which we as the 'everyday consumer' purchase. Most dvds are at least 7 gigs or above with the extras, trailers, etc and they cannnot fit on a one-sided blank dvd. Dvd shrink will compress the files from the retail dvd to allow it to fit on a blank dvd which holds around 4.3 gigs. Depending on the size of the files on the retail dvd will determine how much compression dvd shrink will deem is necessary to backup to a blank dvd. Shrink does not actually do the burning but uses another burn utility such as nero or dvd decrypter to burn to a dvd. For more detailed info I suggest you click the guides tab at the top of the page and look for dvd shrink and also you will find guides in the 1st link in my signature. Hope that brief explanation gave you an idea of what dvd shrink is.
What kind of question is this you really have to be a newbie to the whole video editing world. Thats like one of the programs that you might be using more than any other program to copy a dvd!! But its alright that you ask but be sure to look it up 1st thats what I learned the 1st time I asked a question like that.
