What is in your opinion the best modchip for ds lite?

I am reading around and most people say the R4. I just got a ds lite today. I want a chip so I can use 16 gig card if no higher. Which chip allows the use for high gigs like that? Also where is a legit place to purchase a chip with the kit so I can hook it up to my pc and everything, they have so many places idk if some are scams or not. Thanks in advance

 

The R4 and its many variants are the worst choice.

Go with the CycloDS or M3Real. If you intend to upgrade to a DSi in the future then go with one of the ones with 'i' in the name, like the Acekard 2i.

All of those support SDHC microSD cards, supposedly up to 32gigs according to the documentation on them. But I've never seen a 32gig microSD card so I cant confirm that they support cards THAT large. But I can say from experience that they go up to 8gigs, which is the largest microSD I have.

And the cheapest place is dealextreme, but expect to wait for shipping. Realhotstuff is always a good option too, still fairly cheap but faster shipping. But they dont ship outside the US.

 

I have an M3 Real with a 16gb sd and it works fine, but due to costs an 8GB is much better

 

Whats a good site to order from? In the u.s.a.? Also with the chips. Theres no soldering or anything I have to do right?

Ok thanks guys. One more question. Ima probally go with the cyclods. Ima order from realhotstuff but when I go to ordre. It has the option EZV 3 in 1 Expansion Pack black ? What is that for and do I have to have it? I already have a 8 gig hd card from my digital camera that I will be using for now. Im not sure how big the games and stuff are so i may upgrade the card but that will be later on.

 

Forgot to ask if playing backups online also work?

 

I don't think you will need the EZV 3 in 1 Expansion Pack


as for the games online, they work fine.

 

The 3 in 1 expansion is for if you want to play GBA games. If you arent interested in GBA games then you dont need the expansion.

 

Ah ok. Ya, I never had a gba. Had the original gb but not the gba so I have no use for the games. I will go ahead and place my order, thanks for the help. Cant wait to check this out.

 

1) CycloDS expensive, yes but undoubtably the best. No the other cards cannot do everything the Cyclo can. You pay your money and take your choice, he asked what is the best, look at all the other forum sites = No1 = Cyclo.

DSi buy it if you want too, but don't assume that the flashcarts will work, it will be a few months in before you know the long term results of the flashcarts. At the moment they sort of work
