what is the best audio card for making a demo?

    trust me i wish this was me...but i have a friend that is EXTREMELY talented a busting flows...and i was wondering what is the best audio card to get so that we can record a demo for him? i would really only like responses that are credited..sorry i don't want to waste money on bullsh*t programs....i really want to help him and i would like any good response given...thanks

    the best is usually the best (audigy 2 zs)

    dont use that... i use an EMU 1212m card for all audio purposes....

    For a professional demo, you do not want an Audigy card, it is a consumer grade card. It's ok for games, but I wouldn't use it to make a demo. A couple reasons why it is not professional quality:
    They claim 24 bit sound but it is really downsampled to 16 bit and upsampled to 24 bit. That would be like taking a 128k MP3 and reencoding it at 320k - it still wouldn't sound as good as if it had been originally sampled at the higher bitrate.
    ASIO drivers are problematic and get some pops and noise, especially doing multiple streams at once on the Audigy.


    Probably the cheapest pro type card would be a Terratec DMS 6Fire though the Emu 1212m mentioned would be good too. It depends on your budget. Some pro sound cards can run over $1000.

    not sure right now...just trying to figure out a way to do the home studio thing...the cost of doing it at a professional studio is freaking outrageous...try to just help him save so money....thanks for all the help
