i have a samsung HDTV that only has component inputs. most of the upconverting dvd players only use DVI to upconvert. i was looking at the Zenith DVB318 but the user reviews on amazon.com said that the newer models do not allow a 1080i signal over the component cables. any suggestions?

Hi, I've got a Sony KP51w40 and had the same problem. No HDMI or DVI interface. Only componet cables. Try this DVD player (there are a few others as well that can do the trick of converting over componet)

NeuNeo HVD108 High Definition DVD player

    Hope this helps!

Check Denon products they make some very nice high end equipment that will more than likely meet your needs.

Yamaha has a built-in Faroudja converter.
