hi currantly i have purchaced a acer veriton l410 micro form computer it has am2 socket currantly with amd athlon 64x2 4200+ i have put 3gb of ddr2 6400s which constists of a 2gb and 1gb both 6400s. im wanting to upgrade the processor but im getting conflicting stories of wat will and what wont work so im hoping i can get help here i have been told some phenom ii will go in and work but im just not sure and cant risk spending the money out if not so plz help and also can i put more than 3gb of ram in because when i put 2x2gb chips in it wont even boot up but the 2gb and 1gb does is there a bios setting? so anyways im hoping for help because i want to crazy mod his machine via mini pci and mini pci e coz ther is only 1 sata soket in there but thats for another day so again help wud be brill!!!
I don't think it would be a good idea to do much upgrading there, if only for heat concerns. Also, to run the quad-core chips, you need a 8MB flash rom...and I highly doubt Acer bothered to use that for a dual-core that did not need it...so your upgrade options would probably be limited to a faster dual-core...assuming Acer has kept the bios remotely current. As for not booting with 4GB, have you tried each stick by itself, each in the socket that it would go into? If not, give that a shot...you might find that you have one bad stick of ram.
