All, I have recently invested in a DVD writer and would like some advise on the quickest way to create a DVD. I burnt my first DVD yesterday and the overall time was in the 10 hour range. Of course only a fraction of this was spent burning the data the vast majority of the time was taken transcoding the video. Heres what I actually created using Nero Vision Express I burnt 6 AVI files onto a DVD totalling about 3.8gig in size. All files had to be converted from NTSC to PAL. So my questions would be going forward is there a quicker way of doing this? Should I encode the files beforehand, is it just because my computer is slow (P41500 GHZ), is there different software I should be using or simply is this time about standard. Thanks for any pointers and advise, apologies if this topic has already been covered I have searched about but to no avail.
As you've said the conversion of the video is the slow bit... so try other conversion programs. Have a look in the software section. TMPGEnc might be a good place to start. Adder.
I use a program called Neostudio 6 , Basically it does it all for you . I have an xp 2500 based machine and it takes around an hour to encode and burn a 700mb divx file to DVD-Video format. Feel free to contact me for more information. scott@proffitt757.fsnet.co.uk
