What is the S-video Port For?

    I am a newbie and I was really wondering what the S-video port was for. does anyone know?

    S-Video - "Separate" Video is a physical video interface that carries the luminance and chrominance information separately. The S-Video signal is the same as the composite video signal, except that the Y signal (luminance) is on a separate wire from the U-V signal.

    Usually it will be a 5 pin DIN socket, and you will be able to connect this (you will need an S-video cable,)

    The you will be able to connect your camcorder to your TV, VCR, Capture card on PC, thats assuming your TV, VCR, Capture card has an S-Video port,

    Usually it is said that it yields higher quality during capture, but in reality the differance only marginlly better in some cases.
