i wanted dual boot but there was an error in installing an OS on a partition of 1 of my 2 HDDs
my HDDs wouldnt boot up after that, neither of them (1 of them already contained an OS)
so, i used a program from a cd to wipe and format my HDDs to NTFS
so nothing is currently on them

(im using http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=352 as a reference)

when i put in vista installation cd, i go through the first 2 screens (from that website) but instead of going to the activation code screen, it tells me CD/DVD driver is missing, or some kind of device driver is missing (im pretty sure its CD /DVD tho)
and it wont let me get to the 3rd screen

so i extract the contents of the vista cd and put it on an external 80GB HDD
i boot that, this time it allows me to get past that error, it takes me throught the activation code
when i get to screen 5, the only device/drives that show up are the partitions of my external HDD

so this is where i am now
    what is the problem?
it detects my optical drive and both HDDs in the bios

do i need to get a new HDD? mobo?

p.s. ive tried installing xp, but it gives me the blue screen of death after the 2nd screen

I think you need to download the drivers for your motherboard/raid and in screen 5, Press the load drivers button.

You can burn the drivers into a cd or put them on the external drive, if they are accessable.

Are the hard drive's connected directly to the motherboard or are they installed on a PCI adapter card?

Also it won't hurt to move your RAM to different slots.

well i dont know what to do once i download them, they are exe files, is that what they are supossed to be?

ive done the "load drivers" but i dont think it found anything, but i will try it again

they are connected to the mobo directly

and well, both my ram slots are full, i can switch them, but thats about it
